Artifacts (Daily)

Introduction

Artifact grinding is one of the most frustrating aspects of the game for many players, as the natural RNG involved in pulling the artifacts you’re after is a harsh mistress when it doesn’t work in your favor.

A common misconception with regard to artifacts is that you’re completely dependent upon Fragile Resin to obtain artifacts for leveling breakdown of any kind, and if you’ve ever thought this before, you’ll be happy to know that there’s actually a mechanism by which players can farm large amounts of 1- and 2-star artifacts from world drops on a daily basis.

What we’ll do in this guide is walk through a farming route for the daily spawns for artifact investigation spots, and some of the mechanics behind how they’re generated.

Core Mechanics

Investigation spots for artifacts spawn every 24 hours, as opposed to resetting at the turn of each day. As such, setting a hard schedule each day for yourself in running them tends to produce the most consistent results.

Spots are guaranteed to contain at least a single 1-star artifact, but also contain a chance to drop a second 1-star artifact, or convert both drops into a single 2-star artifact. There are a few spots in the game (such as the Dragonspine spots) that are mathematically dispositioned towards 2-star drops.

This run addresses every spot that’s currently available in the game as of Patch 1.4. This differs slightly from our methodology for running ores of varying kinds simply because the vast majority of artifact investigation spots are single spots.

Artifacts are only dropped in this fashion for the player that owns the world instance they are dropped in, so multiplayer co-op in terms of artifact runs is not possible.
